The Shell Bag takes its inspiration from the sacred geometry of the chambered nautilus. The nautilus has been replicating itself for 500 million years and carries within its chambers the memories, dreams and wisdom of times past. Throughout human history, the spiral shape has signified the labyrinth-like journey inward toward understanding our true nature buried deep within us.
Just as mother-of-pearl lines the inner surface of nautilus, the elegant iridescence of mother-of-pearl inlays the base and handles of the Shell Bag. The sides of the hand-carved base display a wave design. The body, embroidered with the spiral motif, is handwoven Indonesian ikat. Shell beads adorn the zipper-pull.
